For this project in collaboration with Xicato, I created a table lamp using one of their LED systems. My idea revolved around the concept of indirect diffusion, where the source of light faces away from the task area and is reflected backwards for a diffused and more pleasant light.
The form was inspired by satellites which use a similar parabolic shape to spread their signal. The design utilizes two points of axis, allowing the user to intuitively adapt the form between task and ambient lighting, depending on their needs. This presents a solution to task lights becoming too intense and incapable of adapting to achieve more ambient effects when required.
